can my Humminbird send GPS info out to LMF200 via NMEA2000?

I can read GPH, but need gps to see MPG on the LMF200.

Rather than buy Lowrance's GPS module, I *think* I can hook my Humminbird 385ci chartplotter's GPS output signal to it...according to this in the Humminbird's manual:

the cable referenced in the manual has bare wire ends...

Anyone know of a cable that will have the proper barrel type to plug into the LMF200's network? or have a wiring diagram etc. to hook those bare wires to a compatible connector? and a source for the connector?

Depending on your Lowrance unit, you might be able to use the Hummingbird's NMEA 0183 connection but you certainly can't use the Lowrance NMEA 2000 connection with it.

hmmm, yeah. that's disappointing. thanks.

I see this converter (cheaper than any NMEA2000 GPS puck I can find), but wonder if it would be reliable. Not going to spend on it until I read somebody actually hooked a FF to a LMF200....

I suppose I can just carry a $4 calculator and do the math.... :)

The 0183 interface will work. I have CAN, NMEA 0183 and NMEA 2000 on my chartplotter. My fish finder is NMEA 0183 so I interfaced those two together using 0183. The GPS puck is connected to the chartplotter via NMEA 2000 and my fuel monitor is connected to the GPS via CAN.

The 0183 interface will work....

This is wrong. On a LOWRANCE LMF-200 there is no NMEA-0183 input. You cannot connect an NMEA-0183 signal to a LOWRANCE LMF-200.

From the owner's manual, page 5:

"This gauge will only work with a NMEA 2000 network. It MUST be connected to a NMEA 2000 network or it WILL NOT function."

http://www.lowrance.com/upload/Lowrance/Documents/Manuals/LMF-200_0064-362_121306.pdf

I do not think you can get a much clearer answer than that.

I think the interface he's referring to is the NMEA183 to NMEA2000 converter I referenced above.

What about the converter in post #3? Any experience with such a gizmo?

I would assume the converter would work -one way..

A little more info on the converter would be nice. Like a link to it or a model number.... It's hard to tell if it works by looking at the picture.
