I’m trying to find a replacement rack/pinion cable (ssc13415) for my Mercruiser (ya, still working on this) and can’t find one anywhere. At first I searched locally (help out local businesses) and no luck. Expanded to amazon, canada, USA, eBay and shops through out North America. No luck. I tried the SSC 15415 too, still no luck. Any suggestions?

A lot of times they want you to buy a new helm. So they do not sell cables separately.

You are seaching for a Teleflex cable, right?

Yup, searching for teleflex and alternative manufactures. I was surprised there were none available, I was beginning to think they were discontinued or something. I could find listings for them but everyone is out of stock. I’m challenged in finding alternatives, even with replacing the helm

Last time I replaced a steering cable and helm, the local marine store stocked it in the correct length. Not sure why you are having an issue.

could not have looked too hard..... found in under 0.1 seconds on amazon and about 400000000 different locations on the web

https://www.amazon.com/Sierra-SSC13418-SeaStar-Single-Steering/dp/B0000AXUJU

just select the 15 foot. also, as Chris mentioned, your local marine store most likely has it on the shelf

I don’t want to sound too much like a **** like you sounded, but that link doesn’t open right, and by the URL you have, you are looking at a SSC13428 while I mentioned SSC13415. If you look for the 15 foot one, you will see that it is not available or not in stock. So ya, I spent more than the 0.1 seconds that you mentioned. I have searched for it and it is out of stock every place I looked. I’ve phone 5 places in my expanded area, each one I called said they could not find one in stock. This forum is a great source of help and I truly appreciate the help and time everyone provides and sorry for being snarky, but posts like yours are of little help.

So look at the other 399k listings. Three of iBoats competitors had stock on a 16 foot and 2 have stock on the 15 foot. Snarky or not, google found a whole bunch of them.
