can omc parts and mercruiser be swapped

I have a question concerning the difference between mercruiser parts and OMC, other engines too. Can any of these parts be swapped, are they interchangeable. What is the difference on say a intake manifold or exhaust manifold?

a lot of the parts are interchangable. for the most part they all use the same gm or ford blocks. problems arise with proriatary parts in that accessories won't bolt up or exhaust exit different diameter or doesn't line up. do your homework to be sure or stick to merc or omc or whoevers parts.
