Hi, I have a 2010 4.3l tks mercruiser engine and I’ve never been able to suck much oil out and was wondering if this was normal. I’ve have a tube attached to the oil pan that I can pull out through the transom drain. I attach a pump to it to extract the oil. I’ve also tried extracting the oil out of the dipstic. both give me the same result.
the oil was registering full on the dipstick when I started too. I should also mention that I warm the engine up first and the motor is level.
the new oil that I put in is equal to the amount I extract.
one other thing, this time I left the old filter in so I assume some oil is in there but I don’t know how much.

Seems your leaving about a quart behind, not a big deal, your gettin 75% of it. Tilt the bow up or down and you might get a bit more..

I ignore the regular marks on the dipstick on my 4.3. I want 4.5 qts of oil in there. When I suction out the oil I pretty much get it all with a suction tube that goes down through the dipstick tube. I then put in 4.5 qts, start it and run it, and remarked my dipstick.

Is it possible the dipstick has been replaced with the wrong one which is longer and reads full at a lower oil level in the pan?
