Welcome to iBoats,

First off, if you use Epoxy, and you should on a plywood hull, then gelcoating is out. Gelcoat is a polyester based product and does not adhere well to epoxy. With special prep it MIGHT work but IMHO not work the effort or risk. So you should know going in that you will probably be painting the hull. Glen L Boats has some great information on this subject. You should google them up and check out their forum. http://www.glen-l.com/methods/plywood/mthdpw01.html and this one

This site will help you with supplies in your area... http://home.clear.net.nz/pages/grantglazer/Kayak/Materials.htm
I'd definetly recommend precoating all the plywood with epoxy. An 8 oz cloth should suffice. Light sanding between coats is recommended.

I know its kinda hard to swallow.. it was for me.. I dont think "Drying out the hull" will help, it will for the top part of it, but if there moisture it is probably also rotting from the bottom... it will evetually rot inside out. I had to tear my floor up.. infact thats what i will be continuing today you can see in my thread.
