i see you made it here john ... lol. alot of the regs are not on right now but they will be later since most of us are addicted to this friggin iboats thing lol are your plans to restore the boat ? any interior pics ? what hp is on it now ? what make engine? scott

John I have a question that will end up being fairly important in figuring out the year :D. The question is is that tan color the original gel coat color or has she been repainted :D. Welcome to iboats and with the Pics The Starcraft club by the way :D.

the color is as far as i can tell stock it is faded pretty bad though. Just for safety sake any one have a clue on max hp rating.

John I did find a caravel in one of the brochures although differant color than yours so wrong year but it should have the HP ratings in that brochure I will find it again .

John theres a red caravel in the 67 brochure says 80 HP max.

pics look great. i love the sideview mirror ... awesome. im petty sure that the 85 is about max hp for that boat and if you are doing 40ish ... you should be plenty happy with that ..:D scott

Oh yea 40 in a boat this small feels like 90 on the highway. I am real happy with the speed and how fast it gets there is the cool part it is on plane in about 1 1/2 boat lengths.

yea... i went for a ride in another members boat ( EZ ) he has an aluminum jupiter and that thing comes out of the hole like crazy and he is running an 85 horse too i think

John, starcraft made the caravel for four years. In the first year (66) it was Avacado Green top over light Avacado Green bottom and came in outboard model only.

In 67 it was Bergundy Red top over Bermuda Cream hull. and came in both the OB and IB/OB model. Here's a photo.

I don't have a 68 brochure and my 69 is a three page black and white without specs so I don't know the colors for those two years.

With that said, your boat has to be a 68 or 69. Looks like they were rated for 75 to 85 horses.

NB I knew once you got done Hunting Elk you would pop in here . Well at least we have it narrowed down to 2 years . I would say the resto could be done off another year as far as layout and such since its still all original as far as the exterior colors I dont figure that will be hard to replicate :D. John I wouldnt worry to awfull much about exactly original as I dont think theres a member here that has redone their Starcraft exactly back to original Even NB with his Apperantly Rare Sunchief :D.

HAHA Rick! Rare could also equal unpopular:D. From what I've seen of all the old Starcrafts floating around, it looks like most of the folks who bought the bigger ones wanted a cuddy of some sort.

I'm not normally a big fan of red, but that two seater IB/OB is a pretty cool looking boat.

And I'm so behind at work from being gone for a couple of weeks on my UNsucessful elk hunt, I don't think my life will ever return to normal.

North Beach- when I was growing up we had a 1987 20' Sea Nymph aluminum open bow outboard with a 90hp johnson and my dad keeps telling me that he regrets ever selling it. Those huge aluminum hulls are perfect for almost anything and I would love to get a 20+ ft SS for big water fishing.

I think they are pretty high demand and people don't sell them often because they love em and they last forever if maintained(and with iboats help of course)

You are right on the money saying people bought larger usually for the cuddy my dad sold the 20' sea nymph after he bought a 24' fiberglass seaswirl walkaround w/ cabin to handle the big waves a bit better:)
