Can someone double check my decking replacement plan?

Hi - I need to replace the deck in our 1978 Alumacraft Lunker. Here's the skeleton, with stringers that are 16" apart. I've been working on a plan to replace the old deck, which was installed wrong and rotted out very quickly. I've done some research on Coosa board, plywoods, fiberglassing and epoxy. Here's what I'm thinking. Can someone check my assumptions?

The boat is in service, uncovered, seasonally from May - September.
  • 1/2" marine plywood (reinforced to 1" where I will install ski pylon... seems like it would be strong enough with 16" stringers)
  • Epoxy coating on the plywood, both sides. Any suggestion on # of coats?
  • Vinyl flooring
Any thoughts on screwing all the decking down then laying down vinyl (to cover the deck screws)? or Will I want to wrap the vinyl around the edges of the decking?

Thank in advance!

Well I have never installed a deck on an aluminum boat before but I do have one coming up . From what I here the epoxy on both sides has been recommended so sounds like a good plan . I guess I have seen them do it both ways and would guess it just a matter of preference as far as installing the vinyl ... Hopefully some tin boat guys will chime in for you ...

Depending on where you live, Coosa could be a great option. If you don't have to pay shipping and can pick up directly from a distributor then the price is about the same a marine ply. It never rots or absorbs moisture. can be riveted in place and is easy to work with. I am going with this product for my build.

If you have to pay shipping, tack on another 300.00 or so
