can somone give me the stock prop size for a 2002 bayliner capri 175

i had my bowrider in storage over the winter, and when i got it back, the prop was missing. so now i need to get another one, but i need the size, or pitch. does anyone have any ideas where i can get this? its a 2002 bayliner capri 175 with a 3.0 liter mercruiser. thanks

Call bayliner or look at the web site.
My guess is about a 21' would do well keep in mind a lower number may be required for water sports.Also if you haul a lot of people and gear a lower number my be necessary.Don't worry about the diameter a prop for your drive the diameter will follow.

A buddy of mine has the same boat and motor setup as you but a 2000.
He has a Mercury Prop Alpha 4 14x20 4 blade p/n 48-834854A45. He had a
14.25x21 3 blade prop on it and found the 4 blade made his boat faster out of the hole and plane at lower speeds with out losing top end speed. I also switched to this 4 blade prop and also made my boat better !!!!

thanks. ill be happy with the stock recomended size, or that 4 blade your talking sounds good too. the boat is used for everything, fishing, and watersports. the one that was on it was pretty good for my needs. i just dont know what size it was. i do know that it was the original prop that came with the boat new. ive tried the bayliner website, and no luck

Go with the 4 blade prop you will be very happy with it.

i took a shot in the dark and actually grabbed a decent prop at a yard sale. it fits right on the spline, but when i spin it, it hits the galvinized fin above the prop. this is a 21 pitch prop. is there different 21 pitch sizes?

Yes, different diameters. I think yours should be a 14 inch diameter. I believe you can remove that annode fin and replace with the flat annode. If you dont have power steering it may be required, but I'm not 100% sure. I do know that the newer boats with engines 4.3L and up dont have them. That fin is a sacrificial annode that corrodes away before the outdrive does. It also is to assist if you dont have power steering.

just get rid of the one thats on there and get a flat zinc. the fin is supposed to help offset some of the prop torque, but in my experience it doesnt make a difference if its there or not.

Yup -- 13 inch diameter 21 pitch, 14 inch diameter 21 pitch, 15 inch diameter 21 pitch and the list goes on. You don't buy props by pitch alone. You need one for your specific engine so the hub and lower unit housings match. It must also be the correct diameter. Look at application charts right here on IBoats for your engine/outdrive combo. Key in the data and you get a list of available propeller for your drive. That drive was not made by Bayliner, it was made by Mercruiser and was used on a gazillion boats. And just so you know, there is no "standard" prop except on very small motors. A prop for a work barge is very different than one for a fast hull vs one for a recreational hull.

i understand, thanks for the link. i was trying to find the size prop that came with the boat new. this chart will probly tell me. thanks
