I currently have two AQ131D motors with the SP-A outdrives. My motors are going to cost too much to fix so wanted to repower with one chevy 350 motor. Can this be done using one of my Volvo SP-A outdrives, which are in great condition, and if so what will I need to make this work. I can't find much information on the SP-A outdrive, lots of info on the 270, 275, 280 and 290's. Does the SP-A outdrive fall into one of these catagories? Please help. Thanks!!!

Ayuh,... Even if bolted together, an outdrive off a 4 cylinder will be geared, Very Wrong, for a V8...

The SP-A came after the 290's. They came on V8 boats but like Bondo said, the gearing is all wrong. You'd need to switch the lower unit to a V8 gear ratio. You would also need new exhaust. Seems like switching from twin engines to one and converting over to a V8 would be more work anyway.

Whats wrong with your AQ131s?
