Can steering cable be connected both sides

I am going to route steering cable to mount my 1991 115 on boat. For some reason it could be a good solution to route steering cable across boat and down port side to the motor. My question now is: <br />Is it possible to connect steering cable to port side of motor as well as starboard ? Is the threads same length in both ends. Will it be needed to turn tilt tube, or can it be adjusted ??

You can connect from either side.<br /><br />The exposed threads on the tilt tube should be equal on each side. If not, you can turn it until they are.

Sure - but isnt that a question of moving cable to the other side of helm ??

You may have to turn the tube around. The other option is to get the kit thats used to rig a second cable. It bolts right in front of the existing tube with 4 bolts. Thats what those 4 threaded holes are used for. It works really well.<br /><br />Yes the cable can go in the helm in either hole to change direction of travel.<br /><br />Good luck!

Thanks this is a teleflex NFB, I havnt received helm yet, trying to get the best cable size and routing. Both attachments doesnt look exactly alike in the prospect. Two bolts in the side where the cable connects. Do you know this type of helm. Can the cable switch sides ?
