I was told that this can be done if you are having problems with the Yamaha motor starting when it's cold and you have to pop the cowling and put your hand over the choke to get it to start. I have to do this all the time, getting pretty tired of it. My motor is a t9.9elhx, it has always had starting problems when cold, carb has been rebuilt recently. I Use clean 89 octane fuel with marine stabil in it. Once this thing starts it will run like a top all day and start every time the button is pushed, just when it gets cold.
