Back in the bottle? Nope.<br /><br />Nuclear arms? Well, millions of Americans own guns and have the ability to kill one another, but only the tiniest minority ever even try it. There are enough governments with nuclear arms to wipe out life on the planet already.<br /><br />The biggest risk is not a government with nuclear arms, it is terrorists or blackmailers who buy or steal a nuclear weapon. Governments understand that they would become smelly vapor if they used it, but terrorists and other criminals cannot be so easily isolated.<br /><br />Nuclear power? IF we can find a way to safely dispose of depleted fuel it would be great. We haven't, and it isn't. Can you imagine the energy of the Amazon or Mississippi converted to electrical power?<br /><br />Perhaps a new dark age looms, perhaps extinction of life. It still doesn't feel anywhere near as scary as the fifties.

yes I can imagine the power of the Ms or the amazon damed, I have also seen the utter destruction it causes first hand, lake Guri venezuela,<br /> the genie is long outta the bottle, anyone with half a brain,a bit of ingenuity and some time can build a dirty bomb using the guts of old smoke detectors, in fact a kid did it a few years ago and contaminated several blocks.<br />like I say, dang good thang them thar terror dudes have no immagination.<br /> 99% of the folks I talk to have not the foggiest notion of how and why radio activity works. their eyes glaze over.<br /> would be funny if it wasnt so sad.
