Just doing some research but I want to do fresh water cooling on my 5.7 GS. I can find lots of fresh water cooling system for my Volvo but they do block only. Does anyone know if Volvo ever did cool their manifolds with fresh water? If so, do you have a Volvo model/year for which I could search for schematics to see the coolant flow?

Can be done but you need a much greater capacity heat exchanger, do a google search and you will find companies that do it.

Is this a new engine? If not, how long has it been run with just raw water cooling?

If i am reading this correctly he wants it cooled like a automobile engine. Radiator and all. I don't think that system is available in a boat. No room to begin with.

the volvo manifolds have casting bungs that can be machined. you will need a bigger heat exchanger than what is available for the half system, and you will need to make your own block-off plates the exhaust puts out the same heat as the block and heads alone, so you need double the BTU capability.

Volvo came up with the Neutra Salt injection system if you are concerned about corrosion.
