When you said the bolts where stripped, do you mean the Allen headed bolts? These are high tensile steel and very unlikely to "strip" IF using the correct size Allen wrench, from memory I believe it is 8mm. This might be a long job and involve lots of penetrating oil and perhaps some hammering and the careful application of some heat, and if all that fails you might even need an angle grinder. Oh and a bit of swearing might help too.
It has got to come off even if you have to buy a new one!! Have fun, we have all been there.

yes the allen head bolts....and yes they are stripped, I'm not a complete moron I know how to use the right size tools..........update so far I have gotten two of the bolts out by hammering in a larger size allen wrench......the last one is completly round so I put JB Weld on the wrench and now waiting for it to set....I'll let you know what happens

iboats is an authorized VP distributor. Go to the top of the page and click on "Boat Parts and Accessories" and then on "Boat Motor Parts". Just drill down to find your engine and components. Looks like the seal may be difficult to find but they do have the part number listed so you can keep searching with that info. With these older engines, it sometinmes takes a little creativity and searching to find some of the parts.
