Can you help identify my Starcraft?

Hello!

I purchased this cuddy cabin today, and am trying to find out more about it! The seller said it is a 19' Starcraft cuddy cabin from 1976. I have not found the serial number yet. It has an outboard 85hp 2 stroke Evinrude motor. From my research, I am thinking it may be a Chieftain or Islander? Hope you all can help!

Thanks,
Jessica

Welcome. I am not an expert in this area, and it won't be long before some the guys stop by who are...To me it looks like a fiberglass boat, and if the brochures serve me correctly, I don't think they made the Chieftain or Islander in glass. Have not seen one like that on the site either. Clean looking boat.

Her Jessica, welcome to iboats!

Most of the guys around here are better versed with aluminum boats so identifying a glass boat might be a tough one.

There are plenty of smarter fellas on the boards than I so maybe one of them can give ya a hand.

Did it come with a Title or Registration? What does it say on that info?

Re: Can you help identify my Starcraft?

You need to put a tape on the boat from transom to bow tip. From the iBoats Starcraft OB 1976 boats spec pages, there was only 1 19' fiberglass hull made in 1976, Starcraft American S19, and it's actually 19' 3". It may not be 100% complete, but it is generally fairly accurate. The only 19' OB American pix I found was 1972, and it didn't look like yours. Of course, in 4 yrs Starcraft could have made MANY changes to the American line.

The Starcraft fiberglass page here, doesn't go all the way to 1976.

If you need to do any resto work on her, you might get more traffic in the Restoration section of the iBoats forums. The Starmadian's are typically aluminum boat nuts, and steer clear of the fiberglass work:D

Good luck finding the model info, just because it's titled as a 19' 1976 Starcraft, some or all of that may not prove true. Check under the helm & splashwell, along, behind or below the side gunwale trim pieces, and lift all the cushions & storage lids below them in the cuddy. Occasionally, the original fabrication crew left hand written or labels w/ notes indicating boat model.

Best of luck getting it back on the water soon.

Thanks for your input, everyone! Unfortunately, boats do not have titles in TN, so all I have is a bill of sale. I plan to more thoroughly search the boat today for any clues. All I found yesterday was "0476" stamped into the rear panel next to the ladder.

Did you get a copy of the last owners' registration? It may have helpful info on it. My Wisconsin & WV registrations both have length & hull number identification info on it. The state may have issued a non-original HIN since it was listed as post a 1976.

Again best of luck.

The seller told me he would try to find his previous registration, I am hoping to hear back from him today :)

You might have him call whatever dept handles boats & ask for a copy..... DMV in WV, Div Nat Resources in Wisconsin

Re: Can you help identify my Starcraft?

Thanks again to all of you for your input! I finally made some headway today, and it turns out that my boat is actually a 1976 Sport-craft 190 Caprice, rather than a Starcraft as the seller had stated. Now I know why I wasn't having any luck figuring out which Starcraft model it is! :)
