I have a picture of a believe to be fuse because it says 20a on it. it has 2 electrical + connections one coming in from source and and one going out to the switches.
1) What is it?
2) Is it necessary to have it? Im going to use a distribution block with fuses..

Ayuh,... If there's a little button on the other end, it's probably a circuit breaker...

where is it located?

If it is a circuit breaker, keep in mind that they tend to get a little "tired" as they age. I recently had to replace all four on my generator, as they were tripping way below the rated current.

ahhh well on the opposite side of the panel are little boots like where a switch would go. i tried pushing, either a) im not pushing all the way to feel the little button or b) the button hasnt extended because the circuit didnt trip. Im assuming b here. I love this forum you post your question at night and have your answer in the morning. :)

That would be fine, however I would use a fused jumper wire so you don't let the smoke out of your boats wiring. ;)

X100 what Rogers said. Never jump around a fuse with a hard wire. BTW, that is almost the exact copy of the breaker that went bad on my generator... which is ~ 7 years old.

You can find inexpensive replacement breakers on ebay, I got them about 1/2 the price that digikey had them listed for.

If he uses a fused jumper wire to bypass the breaker, he can determine if his breaker is an issue or not, and if the breaker is not an issue and there is a short, it will simply blow the fuse in his jumper wire.
