Can you help me identify this boat?

I bought this boat for the motor and have taken a liking to it. It was advertised as a 1957 Spitfire, although I can find nothing to confirm that. Spitfires seem to be smaller, even home-made. This is 14 foot. I think it has character and like the lines and curves of the old girl. Can you help me identify what it is? :):):)

Hmm, not a clue. Never seen one like it. If I had to guess. '56-'57 would be the era. Finned boats hit big production numbers about 1958. That has some profile clues of fins coming into the picture, but has more of a fiberglass barrelback appeal to it.

I like the barrelback. It also has a jet airplane on the bow, if that means anything? Previous owner painted it black (WTF) to try to highlight it to sell. Like I said, bought it for the motor but took a liking to it after getting it in the water.:D

Looks quite a bit like an early 60's (1961?) Spitfire made by Supreme Boat Co. Minneapolis, Mn.

Cool looking boat. Keep the motor with the Spitfire. They belong together.

Thanks, Ray. Motor is a 1961 Merc 500. Had to tinker with her but she's a real sweetheart now. Purrs at idle, sceams at WOT. White Merc motors are classy. I'm with you, motor should stay with boat. I'm into it right so might just as well enjoy it.

Very neat lookin' boat shelby! Doesn't look like it's in too bad of shape either. Would love to see it all shined up (bet you would too!).

Thanks southkogs! There is some crazing in gel coat. Someone has painted over portions of it. Going to take it to someone who knows what they're doing with fiberglass and gel coats for advice. I've worked on cars (metal), not fiberglass.

I just like the lines on the old girl.
