Can you identify these Shop Manuals?

I have a couple of electronic copies of shop manuals. Neither has a cover or first page that shows who wrote it.

Can you identify them? Are they original OMC manuals? I can verify the year on one by the engine model numbers listed and it is from 1990. The file name for one did say 1986 - 1998 but I'm not sure where that came from. Why are they so different?

The reference to Cobra drives and the engine coverage appears to be for sometime in the late 80s. I cannot say who wrote it. Is there any mention of model #s? On the drive section does the manual show the # of which tool to use when measuring for shimming ? If it gives that much information then the books should be of help.

They look much like a few seloc manuals I've used as knee pads in the past. Regardless of what you are working on, the manufacturer's manuals are the only ones you should be using. Any aftermarket manual is going to be missing things. The seloc manuals for Merc engines are particularly bad, with not only missing information, but a few (quite a few!) important facts are just dead wrong.

All factory manuals for OMC were written and published by Ken Cook company. That continues to this day for Evinrude.

Anything from Haynes, Clymer or Seloc can be used when you run out of toilet paper, or to start a fire.

the prelude safety warning looks exactly what my '88 OMC shop manual says, could be a newer version....

The first one is a Seloc. The second one is the OEM OMC manual...1990

Thanks Bruce.

So the first one is a Seloc manual. It's pretty big 615 pages. Is that right? I will stop using it.

And the 2nd one is an OMC right? It is for a 1990 and my motor is a 1991 (The boat is actually a 92)

I do use it, but I'm careful to check specific details with other references. I'll see if I can find an actual 1991 OMC manual.
