Can you over rev an engine during hole shot?

Hello,

I know that we all watch the WOT rpm so we dont wreck our motors.

But I was wondering because when I start from a stop (full throttle) my tach only shows 3500 rpm, and then once going to top speed I can get to 5000 rpms if trimmed way out.

I never run that hard expect for testing... I like the hole shot of the prop I have, but I dont want to hurt the motor on holeshot when skiing or tubing...

Any thoughts

Sounds normal, to only get 3500 until on plane and trimmed out. Are you trimmed out too far at 5000 rpm? If so, don't trim up so far. If that is "just right" in the trim department, then you are under propped which is good for skiing and tubing, but bad for top end.

Oh man, I got moved..... well first time for everything...

Don. to get 5000 rpms I need to really trim up almost to the point of blow out... Thanks for the info... I was mainly concerned about the hole shot revving.... I cruise at 3000-3500 rpms and that's about it...

3500 is not over revving.
