I was told it was a Evinrude 1968 40 hp....but who knows ( i recently bought it ). There was a 18 hp on it originally but i wanted something faster...plus it has electric start.

Model : 40053A
Serial # : C74725

I am using it on a 1960 crestliner Falcon...335 lbs....family boat with mainly one adult and two small kids under 14.I am hoping to restore it to original next fall.It was in the boat house for 30 years.So its in great shape other than faded paint and in need of new top.

I was given two props...are they the right ones?

Re: Can you please tell me the correct year of engine

40053 = 1970 40hp Evinrude

According to the parts list ... this motor can use the following props:

11 X 9
10-3/8 x 11-1/2
10-3/8 X 14
10-1/2 x 12
10-1/2 X 13

Theoretically, you should pick the prop that allows your motor to achieve the correct RPM's as specified by the manufacturer at WOT. Which one that is for your particular boat ... who knows! Try both of the ones you have, and see what RPM's each one turns at WOT, and go with the one that comes closest to the recommended range.
