ok, here is the deal - i have a 77 85hp with a cooked stator. i went to the local johnson shop and they want 330 for a new one and 260 online for a CDI. we went through his used inventory and we found one with the right number of yellow wires (for the battery charger and 2 sets of brown wires (for the power packs) we determined it was for a v6.

my question - can i use this? will it fry anything? or am I crazy?
the old one makes 6 amps and i think the new one will make 35 amps for the charging circuit.
Also the old one has brown wires with different stripes on them.

realistically, it needs to make electricity, all the timing and everything is done by the other system (spark generation)
what do you think?
Mike
