Hi I was wandering if you can you swap a 1999 mercury 150 xr6 powerhead with a 1999 force 120 with out much interference. I know it’s a down grade but the 150 has a bad piston and this would be a cheap way for me to get the boat back in the water. Any help would be appreciated.

Well----I don't think so if you are thinking of swapping just the powerheads. -------A 4 cylinder inline 120 and a 150 V-6 are totally different.----Not even close.----Swap out the whole motor maybe.

you can unbolt the mercury in its entirety, then bolt on the force. however you may need to swap controls as well. however you can not swap parts.

I think the controls will work, since Force was owned by Mercury in that time. They will need reversed but the control should have the provision..

If you happen to find a "Mariner" v6 powerhead it's likely that will work though
