1967 Sport Four Evinrude I Picture Of The Air Intake Filters Or What I Believe To Be The Intake Filters.

First Question Should The See Pic (left Side Of The Motor) There Is A Box Inlet For Air I Guess. I Open There Where Four Metal Plates With Holes In The Plates On All Side Inside The Two Pieces ,once I Had Taken A Part. Nothing Filter Anything, I Could Stick My Hand Up Through The Bottom Of The Lower Hood Into The Engine Compartment
Question Should There Be A Filter There.

There Is Another Air Inlet With A Filter That That I Am Sure Is Shot
What Part Is It Dose Any Know ........or I Am Just Wrong?

go here, look up the 1968, that's the oldest diagram they have, see if you can find the part,http://www.evinrude.com/en-US/Accessories/Literature/

They are not filters. They are silencers to help kill the noise. If they are disintegrating, remove it so chunks don't fly around in there. Otherewise, forget it, there are other things in life to get concerned about.

Outboards don't have filters. There isn't any dirt out on the water to filter. Just bugs.
