Canadian vs. US Electrical Outlets

OK, so my son's trying to buy an external hard drive off Ebay. He calls last night and said there's one at a pretty decent price, but the description says something like it's wired for Canadian outlets.
Having wired houses here in the US, and being in the electric business for my entire life, I never considered that there might be a difference between 'ours' and our neighbors to the North. Is there?
Thanks!

Thanks, dolluper! There is no difference, then. I'll let my son know. Appreciate your reply!

Canada and america both produce the same power 110 120 at 60 cycles same for 220 240. Europe and other countries have different voltage and cycle rates.

Shh, dolluper! Northeast & North-central USA and parts of Canada learned the wrath of the great electric gods on August 14, 2003 (The Great Blackout). We don't ever want to anger them again! lol
