Hi, Im in the middle of feeding my shift cable through the drive (Alpha one 2nd gen) and it only goes in a couple inches and stops and I cannot get my hand in there to grab it. Is there any tips or tricks to bring this cable through?

Thanks, got it. I just fed a tiny narrow metal rod through and it had enough length to see where it was coming from so I just re directed the shift cable around the block

Since you already removed it ,No. Once your thru the housing you might be able to hook it with a coathanger, etc. But for next time:
Remove the inner core, get some weed-wacker string and pass it thru the casing and *** it off inside the boat. leave enough out the transom end to pass thru the new cable.Remove the old casing leaving the string as a guide.Slip the string thru the shift bellow and glue in place, slide string thru new casing and knot the end.Someone pushes the cable and someone pulls the string to where you thread it in. The outside person turns the wrench clockwise while the inside person turns the vise-grips counterclockwise, at exactly the same rotation so as not to kink the new cable casing. remove string, install new core, finish assembly.
