Cannot separate OMC throttle shifter control box

I have removed all screws and the lever. I have tried in neutral forward and reverse. Idle lever up down. Am I missing something? I don't want to force it

Year? Mine comes apart once I've removed just three large Phillips screws, lever stays with one side of the case. May need to gently pry apart.

I got it apart. It was corrosion welded together. That's one stout little box.
