I am in the market for a squareback canoe[ going moose hunting]if I get what I want- probably a grumman 19' - what is the best outboard for it?I've been told you need two cylinders if you want to avoid vibration- but that means a heavier outboard .Any opinions on 2 or 4 stroke? So far I'm favouring a 4 stroke 4 hp single cylinder Yamaha.Anybody use that one on a squareback canoe?

Re: canoe outboard

In that application, RBF, I would look for a JohnnyRude 3 to 4hp twin. They are extremely smooth and quiet for 2 strokes and only weigh about 30lb.

I am going to move this to General Outboard.

Good luck. :)
