canoe wall shelf

I recently had a fiberglass canoe given to me.It has a couple of cracks and deep gouges at mid point.The weaving on the seats is shot.But what I had in mind for this is to cut it in two pieces,using the best end and put shelves in it and use it as a bookcase or display unit.Has anyone done this or know any sites where I can get some ideas.I did a search but came up empty.<br /><br />Kevin

Well,............<br /><br />I was born & raised in Old Town Maine...........And there's a Canoe Factory there...........<br />Each Spring they hold a Scratch,+ Dent Sale,......<br />About 15 years ago,.. I heard about it,+ bought a few to sell on the lawn,..........Over 300 canoes all together........<br />Anyway,... I Quit a couple of years ago,... This year I was convinced to Do It again by the Love of My Life,.........<br />I've tried to let Her Do It,.......The lawn Doesn't look much different Now,.. Than it did when that 1st pic. was shot,..........<br /><br />Next April,.......... I'll be Doing It......... <br /><br />This is what We looked like leaving Old Town,+ Headed West..........<br /><br />

I didn't say I'm Giving them away,........ I Said,.. I Wish they were Gone......... <br /><br />The 1s I sell for $525.00 as factory Scratch & Dented,.... aka,.. Cosmetically Challanged.......<br />Sell for over $800.00 at a Dealer,......<br />The 1s I get $725.00 for sell for $1100.+ at a Dealer..................<br /><br />

<br /><br />These 1/2 hulls cost Me $50.00@ at the Factory 2nds Store,.........<br />Add in the $15.something for the Bow Piece,.... Another $20.something for the Gunnel Rail,......<br />Throw in a Bunch of Screws,+ Pop-Rivits,..........<br />Then the Time,+ Energy to put it Together,............... $100.00 sounds pretty Fair for an Iceboat,....<br /><br />

<br /><br />I've got 3,.. 1/2 hulls left,...2 red,+ a green,.... I've also got the rest of the parts to complete them to at least the Basic Iceboat,.....<br />You can see the Iceboat I built back in 1992,......The Wearstrips Helped Alot,... But,.. It's getting pretty Tired,....
