I cannot figure out what this is. But the thing in the 2nd and 3rd pic is leaking fuel bad. I had it out this past week and when I gave it throttle it didnt go anywhere. It felt like it was starving for gas. It would idle fine but when I put it in gear it wouldnt go for nothing.

(for some reason the images were flip to the side, so they are sideways.)

Its an 88 110hp Johnson.

Any help would be appreciated.

That is your VRO pump. Combination of fuel and oil pump.

That would be the VRO pump. It is the fuel pump and oil injection system in one unit. It looks like the hose in photo #2 doesn't have a clamp on it. That alone would cause a fuel leak.

I appreciate the info, The hoses are not leaking, its leaking under the plastic piece in the 3rd pic. I will see if I can outline it in another image.

Ok, I hope this is good enough. It is leaking under the plastic piece that the arrow is pointing to.

Will go see if I can see a model number.

Its not recommended to repair the unit if its leaking at that end (oil pump)

Perhaps now is the time to delete the VRO? Fairly simple operation.

Re: Cant figure out what this is.

Do you know of anywhere I can find the "How-To" on how to do that?

And by deleting that, That is bypassing the oil pump all together right? Meaning I would have to mix the gas / oil manually?

Run a search, there are several posts about it. And yes, you will have to mix your oil and gas to a 50:1 ratio.

Re: Cant figure out what this is.

This is all I found, but the problem is I dont know the parts so without pictures I am pretty clueless.

pre-mix the fuel and oil in your gas tank at a 50:1 ratio
remove the oil line from the front of the engine and cap the nipple on the fitting as well as the oil line from the tank
unplug the no oil warning harness from the VRO pump so that you do not get any no oil warnings. The connector is located about 6" from the VRO pump.
That is all you need to do.

Re: Cant figure out what this is.

This looks pretty straight to the point and easy to follow. WOuld this work?

First On the vro pump you will see three wires coming out going to one common plug. Disconnect this plug. Then disconnect the oil line coming in to your motor. Be sure to block off the line. You can either put a plastic cap on it or you can leave a small piece of the hose on and put a 5/16 bolt in the line secured with a hose clamp.

Re: Cant figure out what this is.

Do you want to remove the VRO completely and run a pulse type fuel pump, or do you want to just disable the oil side and use the fuel pump side of the VRO? They are two different conversions.

I am looking to bypass it and I mix the gas/oil manually. The plastic part on the top where the needle is, thats leaking gas real bad.

Re: Cant figure out what this is.

You are going to have to remove all the oil delivery system, and the complete VRO pump. You will have to adapt a pulse type 3 line fuel pump to your engine and use the pulse line that operated the VRO to drive the added fuel pump. Make sure to add oil to your tank and purge the fuel lines to make sure you have mixed fuel to the carbs.

If its leaking fuel, the VRO is not useable even for premix. You'll have to replace it with another pump. Either another VRO or a conventional pump requiring premix.
