Can someone tell me if they know where I can find a CDI box matching my engine or one like it. Here are some details.

Serial Number of my engine is 0P023330 and the year is of 1999 it is a mercury 25hp engine 2 stroke. On the CID box there is a number engraved in its plastic it is 855713

Here are a few pictures of the engine and the CDI box.

The reason I am changing the box is because I am only getting 1 spark not 2 from the engine. I tried changing the coils with another pair and it worked the same. Also I changed the part under the flywheel with another 2 parts. So i guess the only electrical component in the engine is the CDI box so il buy a new one and hopefully it will work.

Might want to resize those pics. The correct part number is 87843301S and it is available from Merc for 242.81. You can order it from your Merc dealer or at http://www.crowleymarine.com Crowley will order it from Merc, take delivery and then ship it to you. It takes a little while to get parts through them but they are great to work with.

That part you said looks nothing like mine. Not even the screw holes will fit on the engine block the way they are...

P.S. I'd go with the CDI over the Merc.

Do you know of any stator that goes with this part as well ? So I can purchase that to be on the safe side. Also does the link you put ship to Malta (Europe) ?

Stator and Trigger, never just one always both. I can keep doing this for you but you can do it yourself.

Go to http://www.crowleymarine.com and go to the parts catalog. There you can search for parts by year, size and model or by make, size and serial number range. If you do the later there are often multiple choices for your horsepower. I think yours is the seapro 25. If you don't find your serial number range then try another choice.

Once you have the right one, you'll be able to look at the parts and find the correct part number. If you don't like the prices at crowley then take that part number over to http://www.cdielectronics.com and search their web site. A little trick on their site is to type the part number in like this 855713 A4 or just drop the A4. Once you have the CDI part number you can come back to iBoats and search the CDI number and if they can get it for you, you'll find it at a reasonable price.

Hope that helps.

FYI - I buy from crowley occasionally just to show appreciation for the parts finder. It has saved me tons of money.

Great, the info I gave you about finding parts will make your search a lot more fun. Don't forget to throw a bone to crowley once in a while. They don't do this for health reasons.

I got a very last question. Store related. The problem is from the US it will cost to much to ship down to malta. Do you know of any online shops that their warehouse is based in the EU ?

Re: Cant Find A CDI Box For My Engine

google the part numbers and limit the output with a site parameter

example---
xyz123 mercury site:*.de (for Germany)

delete your pictures. Resize them locally to 640x480 or smaller, save them as jpeg at about 50% quality, and re-upload them if needed. At the least, please delete the huge pictures.

I will not answer any more questions till you do.

hope it helps
