Post some picrures.
Chevy starter motors bolt from the bottom up to the engine block, athough I have seen the 4 bangers bolt to the bell houseing. If the starter mount flange can be unbolted from the old one, just swich out the flanges.
Sounds more like issues with low voltage. http://www.arcomarine.com/xhtml/tech determine marine starter rotation.pdf
Could also be the insides of that cheap offshore starter is junk. Or maybe the flywheel ring gear has teeth missing.
Does the engine turn at all? Can you turn the engine by hand? If not, pull the plugs and see if there is water in the cylinders.
Ayuh,... Welcome Aboard,... standard rotation for a SBC is lefthanded,.... as viewed from the Pto end...
Do ya still have the Original starter,..??
PTO end?
Looking at the flywheel.
Did you look at the link I posted above? It shows how to determine direction of the starter. If you bought a CW turning starter, then it's the right way.
I'm sorry don i did not notice the link , i will check it out now Thanks![]()
