As far as I can tell, the manual calls for a bellows. Are you looking to change to a tube instead?

Gotcha. I checked 3 sources and only saw the bellows listed. If I come across one I'll post back.

ok thanks, i have bellows on now, been on for years, and when i put the outdrive back on last month, i noticed the bellows had come off the drive side and i can get back on but slips off when trimmed up, so i want to forget the hassle and put tube on insted

Bt,

He's got an Alpha, 1996 (Gen II I'm thinking). Will that tube fit it? Looks like that's for R/MR/One, or Bravo ??

fits all the Alpha`s

sorry to be redundant but im looking to replace my bellows with a tube also. so your saying that the tube for a 1983-1990 alpha 1 drive will fit no problem on a 1991 and up alpha 1 GEN 2 DRIVE? because every part number listed for a gen 2 drive are bellows regardless if there called tubes.

Exhaust bellows part number are same for Alpha 1, Alpha 1 Gen II, and Bravo 1. I think the tube only came as a stock item on some Bravo drives and 454/alphas, maybe some 350 magnums/alpha/bravo 1.

I have a genuine Mercruiser part labeled 78458A1, and it is a tube, not a bellows. Call someone at mallory. There is a difference between a bellows and a tube.

Re: cant find the right exhaust tube

The tubes were used from 78 to 80 on v-8 #1 drives. the exhaust relief was too small and the ex bellows would expand and push the u joint bellows int the u joints and tear it. The transoms assy was redesigned with larger relief holes and back to bellows. The tube should fit but it will be louder. Tube # from merc parts catalog 78458A1. good luck
