I have been searching in the Del.,N.Y.,N.J.,Conn. area for a used galvanized or aluminum trialer for my 25' boat for over a year and havn't found one yet. I guess the trailers wear out before the boat. I hate to have to buy a new one because its' only going to be used for winter storage. If anyone knows of any out there even if they need some work, if it can handle a 25' boat with a wide beam and around 6500lbs., please let me know.
Thanks in advance, Mike

Re: Can't find trailer

Mike, Used trailers are hard to find especially in that length. I wound up buying new for my 16 footer. However, when I was looking there was this place in Keyport, NJ that sold new "second" trailer's that where rejected by the intial buyer because of a scratch or something. I believe the dealer name was Raider Marine. Just be careful the salesman tried to put me into a trailer that was bigger then my boat required. Would not have mattered if I was winter storing it but for traveling the weight would not have been over the axels correctly. You should be able to find their ad in the Salty Dog or Boat shopper magazines.

Re: Can't find trailer

I recently went through the same thing here in the Buffalo NY area. Your right, it can be hard to find a trailer, especially when your trying to do it cheaply. People don't advertise cheap boat trailers. What I ended up doing was hitting every marina I could find and asking the people that work there (not just looking for trailers). I finally got one at a little marina on Lake Erie. I asked the owner if he knew where I could find an old trailer and turns out he had someone that had a boat that died and asked he to help dispose of it. He did but kept the trailer at the marina for moving things around. It was th eperfect trailer for my boat, and I got it for $300.
Also check boat harbors where people rent slips. There is usually a parking area somewhere where people stow their trailers. Good chance that someone has abandoned a trailer and you can pick it up from the people that rent the slips cheap.. Happy hunting.. George
