Few things, make sure the water tube is aligned, the driveshaft goes into the powerhead splines and lastly the shift, if not put in properly it will cause this. also look up into the powerhead, make sure the little seal is not blocking your way in. They rarely tend to fall out of place. If you did all this right, then you just have to turn the flywheel a little bit to get the splines all lined up
