Hi,

I've got the rod with the goosneck forward and it is hitting the back left corner of the grommet. We can't see the rod itself. The hole is on the left side and I can see the hole in the metal below. Can you please tell me what is wrong? Thanks.

Might need an extra set of hands. You can manipulate the shift rod from right under the lower pan of the cowling. Long needle nose pliers help.

The problem was the grommet was partially pulled out and to one side, not letting the rod come through. I pulled it out, run the rod part way up, put the grommet around the shaft, then put the LU the rest of the way up. Then I pushed the grommet back in with a screwdriver.

Job finished. Thanks.
