Hi there, 1978 Wellcraft with a merc 233 outdrive, sunday a trim cylinder started leaking when about to take the boat out, took it off, was leaking from a hole in the metal, sanded and jb welded the hole, now that I am trying to get the trim to work, it isnt happening, Im trying to bleed the system, but the cylinder doesnt extended when I have the rear hose removed, is there some secret that the Seloc manual isnt telling me?

Ayuh,.... My guess is the epoxy you slathered on, intruded into the path of the piston...

You need another trim ram.... They're cheap, used....

I ended up finding the problem, previously the lines were put on backwards, for one cylinder, so thats why it kept confusing me, my jb weld held up for my test run though! and is still keeping it up and down in my driveway

Up and down in the drive is one thing, but with the pressures added by a boat moving at high speed it could be another story. Probably a good idea to listen to Mr Bond-o and look for another cylinder, just in case.:)
