Reverse the first two numbers of the model number and you get 1948. The 9007A should be a 3 hp. Both are 1 cylinders I believe, made by Gale...the generic mfg. division of OMC/Evinrude/Johnson up until the early 60's. Very good motors, simple, reliable, easy to work on. Keep em and run em.

Parts for the old gale motors are available at all NAPA stores. Just make sure to take the model number with you. I have a 1963 5 hp SeaKing (Gale) so far I have been able to get water pump kits, carb kits, plugs, points and all electral parts from them. Mine is a strong running old motor and I perfer it to a 25 HP evinrude I have. Just depends on were I use them.
Good luck and let us know how she runs.
Ray

Unfortunately I think you will find the parts for your older motor are not as easy to find or match with E/J motors.Parts from other Gale built motors of similar design might work. Also
some Johnson ignition parts of approximately the same year may fit.

Check the links page at www.aomci.org, there's always someone who has NOS parts in stock or can get what you need...just takes a little phone work.
