I tried to idle down my Force 150 by backing out the idle adjustment screw. It had no affect on idle speed and even backed off all the way it still seems to race high. I dont have a tach yet so actual RPM is unknown. But shouldnt the idle screw allow you to idle the engine down low enough to sputter or stall? any info much appreciated....

Check the throttle valves in the carburetors and make sure there adjusted correctly. If not the engine could idle high.

Check that the timer plate linkage is connected and that the plate returns to the idle setting.

Did you check your other post and check intake leaks?

Disconnect your trottle cable and adjust the idle screw until thethrottle plates just move. Tie the carb throttle linkage back so it doesn't jump around and start the engine. If you are on muffs, set the idle at about 1100 to 1200 rpm. When you hook up the linkage make sure that the trottle is at idle and the snap fitting goes onto the ball without moving the linkage.

This should give you a baseline.

John
