I picked up another '69 Glastron, this time a V176 with a 70's 1150 inline 6. The problem is that the motor is all the way up and I cant seem to find a release latch. I will be ordering a service manual as soon as I determine the engine year.

Thanks

Meddo, The latch on those was on the midsection. When the motor is tilted all the way up, you should see a "dog-eared" shaped piece of steel on both sides of the midsection, which should be touching the clamp bracket. Usually they rust and bend up, and just jam the motor up.

Chris1956, I saw those "dog-eared" pieces of steel and I think you are right they are rusted on. I'm kind of disapointed that such a big heavy motor doesnt have power tilt/trim it must be a pain to move up and down.

Meddo, Power Trim/Tilt was optional on those motors. I have it on my '77 1500, and cannot imagine not having it.
