sorry i meant carbs u know the two throttle bodies or not sure.i read a bit about the vro system and im confused what ratio should i be mixing my fuel at cause i don't have a manual for it yet the local shop is charging me 50 bucks for it and that's a bit much,do you know where i can order one for a bit less? my co-worker says it might be a fuel problem if im geting spark but how do i confim that im not as knowlegeable with outboards as i am with cars that's why im so out of it.any advise will help thanks again.:)

holly crap"" im so not smart....lol..ok i think i know what i did wrong, when i got this motor i knew that it was a two stroke so when i ran it on my boat in my garage i automatically mixxed fuel like i did with my jhonson 20.after learning a bit about the vro system i realized that i didn't have to?.so now i want to disable the vro and mix my own fuel tomorrow but my question is ,is that why it wouldn't start the next day because the mixed fuel messed up with the vro's oil mixing system? and i hope i didn't screw it up. i know the details on how to disable the vro,and i saw the diagrahm so i will try that but only after someone can tell me that this is what i should try i feel like a fool i wish i knew more.....:confused:thanks.

I would say all that it's going to do with pre-mixed fuel and the VRO working is over-lubricate the motor. Could cause it to run a bit bad I'd think from all the extra oil, but I don't see why it would cause it not to start.

i always mix my fuel when i get a motor that i have no history, mixing and vro will not effect starting and running, it will just smoke a little more. you have a primer system rather than a choke,

what EXACTLY is your starting procedure?

The primer solenoid is on top of the carbs. It is a black cylindrical object with a red handle.

That red handle needs to be folded back (Parallel to solenoid body) for "normal" use.

To start:

1. Pump up primer bulb.

2. Turn the key to "ON" NOT START.

3. Push in the primer (key) and hold for eight seconds.

4. Release key.

5. Turn key to start (do not push key in).

that's it i followed your atart up list and it fired right up.
if you didn't straighten me up i would have probably gone and bought a bunch of parts thinking it was something else thanks.now all i have to do is take it out on the water and see how it behaves at low and higher RPMs and if i find anything i will post it this site really helps.....
