Hi
New at this
I have a 90 hp Johnson VRO that I cant get the throttle cable and butterfly valves to properly sync
I have gradually got this baby out of storage
Yesterday I used unit for 6 hrs fishing in upper Niagara
It worked fine but felt that I had to push the throttle lever too hard to get to maximum throttle
Was getting about 5400 rpm at peak
I was getting about 32 mph
I seem to remember getting a lot more speed many years ago when using this
I have had far too many marine people getting there hands on this and handing me big bills
Carbs were rebuilt 2 seasons ago
This morning on suggestion from a fishing buddy I looked at butterfly valves in carbs in a full throttle situation ( while not running)
The dampers were far from fully open
I Adjusted the length of throttle cable (new 2 seasons ago) so that valves were opening fully
On start up the result gave me far too much rpm and I had too shutdown quickly
It seems that the cam that activates the 2 carbs is not reacting properly with the throttle cable
I tried experimenting with the linkage between the cam and throttle cable operated lever
There seems to be some free travel on the throttle cable ( as there is on the shifter cable which I did nt replace-was working fine )
It seems that I can slow down the engine by hand by utilizing the free travel.
This all puzzles me
What do I do to sync this so that I can get minimum and maximum throttle
Any help would be greatly appreciated
Thanks Rud
