and heres a couple more, there was no number plate on this engine near transom. any help would be appreciated

If you could find aa aluminum whelch plug, about the size of a quarter, those will usually have the model and serial numbers. These plugs are located on top of the block, behind the flywheel, or on the side of the block.

Going by graphics on cover looks like 1988.

1986 or 1987 120 Loop Scavenged Evinrude

Definitely not 1988. 1988 is the big bore with a different lower cowl.

should be on top of block between the 2 head, under the black boxes.

I think the welch plug is missing. See the thumbnail for location if there is one.
