Canvas Repairs

What is the going rate for repairing Boat Canvas. I just was quoted $100 for re-stiching a cover for a 20' cobalt. Seemed high, but I have nothing to compare it to. Any suggestions..

Re: Canvas Repairs

Just this week I paid $103.00 to have the seams redone on my bimini (23' Wellcraft CC). That did include two new straps plus the plastic fittings for the bows. He also threw in a waterproofing solution in a spray bottle.

Two weeks a go I paid $30.00 for a new zipper on my dodger.

Thanks for the input. It seems that the market is the same everywhere.

Yu win the prop award! Now can you tell me why the engine overheats at below 700 RPM for 5 minutes but otherwise its fine? Moreover, the engine has behaved this way for 8 years?...thanks

Fantastic, I love prop awards. Your overheating question will get a lot of response in the engines catagory... Prop award! :)

Re: Canvas Repairs

Too bad you guys don't have any Amish harness and canvas shops near you. They do the best work and will custom fit anything, at prices that I won't post to save you from getting upset. :)
There's a guy near me that makes a good living re-doing tent campers, awnings, and boat covers. He makes rugs and doormats out of the old covers and scrap pieces.

I re-sewed the bimini top on my pontoon, with braided nylon thread (it should not rot out in a couple years, like the factory thread did) on the wife's Brother XL-3022 sewing machine. :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D

Re: Canvas Repairs

I was just quoted $35 to replace a 4'zipper and about $100 to replace a 3'X 5' section of isinglass. Thought that was high but I guess not.

Looks like a good business to go into, you could make money even shipping back and forth across the country if what ya'll say is true for some areas. :D :D
