I'm about to re-install the cap on my '90 bayliner capri which has a shoebox joint...
This will consist of sealing the joint with 3m 4200, and then riveting the rubrail, cap, and hull back together.
My question is do i need to get the 4200 between the cap/hull joint or is it good enough to run a bead along the bottom edge of the cap on the exterior of the hull prior to installing the rubrail. I can probably get 4200 between the hull and cap on the sides of the boat, but by the bow and stern the fit is super tight and i don't know how i'd get any inbetween. Also is it best to just squirt 4200 into the rivet holes prior to inserting the rivets, or to coat the rivets themselves prior to inserting them.
