Re: capacity plate?
Mine was so faded it could hardly be read. I contacted the OEM and asked about getting a new one. They said they do not make replacement ones, but sent me an electronic copy of one (jpg or pdf, can't remember).
One of the offices at work has an engraving machine hooked up to a computer. Basically, the engraver is the "printer" to the attached computer.
I typed up the info in basically the same format as the original cap plate and had the computer "print" it to a piece of 2 layer plastic (top layer is blue, bottom is white). When this engraver does it's thing, it cuts through the top color layer and then the letters or graphic shows up with the bottom color.
I then drilled and riveted it next to the original one.
Since the OEM's don't or cannot provide replacement ones, I am not sure what else we can do. I also don't know what would prevent someone from changing the data. My wife actually got mad that I did not increase the capacity by 2 or 3 people so we could "safely" take more people out. Her "safe" and my "safe" are 2 different definitions.
