"Tracker transom problem" update: (earlier posts... Tracker Transom Problems
[/URL]Best Fishing Boats )
I went to the fishing show here yesterday and Tracker had a small display set up. Many of the sales type guys kept coming up to me and I just kept saying, "I want to talk to the factory rep". Turns out he's the Sales Manager for Canada. At least that's what it said on his business card.
Bottom line
Warranties on boats from this year were only transferable for five years from original purchase date.
Wood warranties on boats of this year.....only good for five years from purchase date. :(
That's the bad news. I again told him I wasn't looking for Tracker to repair this for me for free but mostly just trying to get some info on an easier repair. Or at least a boat manual as you said.
Then the good news. He then says to me "there might be some Good Will here". :) :) :) :) I don't exactly know what he meant by that but he wants to see the boat and we have made arrangements for him to stop by my house on his way back from another local boat show in our area.
Thanks again Capt..... I'll keep you posted.

Re: Capt_Tracker_Ultra..."Good Will Hunting" Update

Hey Capt U
I had my meeting yesterday with the rep from Tracker. He came to my place and had a look at the boat, Hummed and hahed a bit and finally said "Yes you definately have a problem here but you know with the age of this boat and you not being the original owner, I think we're beatin a dead horse here". I kinda expected this, nothing more but at least I tried, and at least he was good enough to stop by and take a look.
Well, I've almost got a space cleared out in the garage. I will just stop whining, pull it in and just get at it.

Hey Wip,

Well every angle was tried; I am impressed the guy came to your house to look at a boat 12+ years old. That kind of good will goes a long way.

It's a shame you couldn't talk some materials out of him, but than again more than likely you would have had to drive 1000 miles to pick them up or pay a hundred or two (or more) to a common carrier to have them shipped out of the country.

Got to hand it to you, you went farther than most would have.

Good luck with the fix! I’m sure it will turn out great given your tenacity.

;)

Re: Capt_Tracker_Ultra..."Good Will Hunting" Update

It's not over just yet.
I asked him where I might be able to find some matching carpet for an extended casting deck that I want to stick in there. He said he knows a few guys in the biz and he might be able to "hook " me up with some stuff if you know what I mean. And the sportsman's show is coming up. Who knows what I may be able to find out there. LOL :D

Yea Man :D Good Luck!!! At least you have a person to speak to now, I hope you got his direct phone #, email, home phone# and mother's maiden name!

Regarding the carpet I needed some carpet a few years back and someone told me that Lowes Home Center had marine carpet. Sure enough they did, real nice high quality stuff too in 6 colors for much less than $$$ than Marine Centers around here even better prices than Cabela's.

I don't know if you have Lowes up there but if you run into a dead end you might want to try one of the Big Box Home Centers.

My Tundra came in and it's at the dealer getting rigged and a few options installed (freebies I got them to throw in) going there tomorrow to mark placement of them. Free stuff and labor – can’t beat that!

The factory sent me a video of the boat in action with two Bass Fishing Hall of Famers. Where is this "Fishing Hall of Fame"? Any way they go over the whole boat showing all the features.

I like the video but in a way I wish they didn't send it, it just makes me want to go out and tomorrow morning it will be 6 degrees here and maybe snow this weekend. Envy you guys down south!

;)

Hey Capt
He gave me his BUSINESS card. All the important info. I'm going later today to one of those big box stores "Home Depot". Ever hear of it :D Didn't know that they stocked that stuff I'll have to check it out. Hey I thought Xmas was over, cause you sure sound like that kid that can't wait until tomorrow. Have fun you lucky dog. Isn't the fishing hall of fame at the Bass Pro shops somewhere?
