Car battery VS Marine battery

Hi just looking to freshen up my main starting battery for getting the ole 1997 75hp force ob going. Gonna keep the marine battery in it now for a spare but want some advice on what to buy. CAR or another Marine. Car has a 5 year warranty if i don't tell em its in my boat..hehehe.. I don't run really any accessory while on the float either, take my transistor radio is all...

Why not just pick up a Sears Diehard marine battery?

If it going to be in a situation where its gona go dead a few times a year I would get a deep cycle or a hybrid that has a enough CCAs'. A AC Delco Voyager is a nice no maintenance hybrid.

BTW: Even though its a 5 year warranty on the Battery they dont just give you a brand new one if it craps out, they prorate it by the amount of time it it has left on the warranty the day you bring it back in. $50 bat warranteed in the 4th year, you get $10 back, etc etc.

Get a good deep cycle marine battery!!!!! PERIOD

Get either a hybird Deep Cycle / Starting battery, sometimes called a Multi-purpose battery, or spend more and get an AGM battery.

I just got an Optima AGM battery for $125. The Sears Platnium is an AGM battery with a 5 year FULL REPLACEMENT warrenty @ $189.

To my knowledge the only thing that makes a marine starting battery any different than a car starting battery is that the marine battery has the screw terminals. Deep Cycle, Hybird and AGM batteries are different animals all together.

I've read that the marine batteries have thicker/stronger plates inside to counter the extreme vibration an pounding that boats incur.
