i have a 1969 johnson 115 that needs a power pack but i have been told by many that the power pack in this motor always goes bad. i was told my best bet would be converting to a coil from a car does anyone know how to do this or where i can get info on doing this

Re: car coil conversion

Whomever told you you could use an automotive coil was smoking those funny cigarettes. Powerpacks usually last a very long time, but do occasionally fail. How do you know yours is bad?

By the way, if you need coil(s) or a powerpack, you can save a few $'s by getting Sierra Marine replacements. I think West Marine sells Sierra as well as some marine repair shops. Price is generally 1/2 to 2/3 of OMC dealer's.
