It Can be Done,....... But I don't think you like the results.......

Car Seats put you in a different Sitting Attitude than a Boat Seat..... Too Laid Back....

Sounds heavy! Haven't seen a lot of lightweight car seats.

Sounds like you may end up with a case of wet butt as well!!!

Also marine seats have a plastic layer between the vinyl and cushion so the foam doesnt get saturated.Car seats will soak up water, never dry and stink of mildew very bad..Plus they weigh about 3 times what the newer marine seats weigh..

all that, plus you would have to rig a way to mount them. they have no mounting base, except for the slides.

Boat seats are CHEAP! For crying out load, this on is $78 on iboats.com, and it comes with a base already so you don't have to build a crappy looking homemade one:

My biggest concerns would be weight and the fact that they will soak up water and never dry out. I think I'd use those cheap all plastic bass boat seats before automotive seats.
I looked at a boat a few weeks ago that had a set of seats out of some small car, they were soaking wet, faded, and had rotted orange foam falling out all around the base. They just added that extra touch of class to an already rough boat, which I am sure is still sitting where I saw it several weeks ago.

I have never seen a "nice" looking boat that was fitted with car seats.

Ebay is your friend...I bought a nice set of Tempress Navistyle seats and had them to my door for under a hundred bones. And don't say you don't have a hundred bucks. If a person lays off the beer for a week, they have a hundred bucks. If you are feeling especially cheap, you can go to Wal-fart and get a set of those $25 folding seats. I have used them, they work, but my butt needs a bit more size under it. Car seats just have no place in a boat, period. Good luck...

I would think you would have a really hard time coming up with something like those seats from a salvage yard. In addition, they are still not marine seats, and you are likely to have issues with the foam.

Wait! I think a huge split front bench seat in leather with 6 way power from a 89 Lincoln Town Car would look great! Get that laid back getto look going! Install a BOOM BOOM stereo! Be the coolest boat on the water! :D :D :D
