Could a car pump be used.

Reason why I'm asking car is
It has a heater hose port on it. (hopefully)
I would use that port to run fresh HOT water coolant though a heater core.
Return line into a (TEE custom built ) placed the radiator hose coming in or out of the cooling exchanger (big red thing)

Ayuh,... The water circulatin' water pump's housin' is the Lower pressure area, just like where ya want the water to go back too...

Water Won't Flow...

Ya need to tap yer hot take-out water from behind the T-stat,....
possibly from the T-stat housin', head, or block...

You didn't mention an engine type, but most marine water pumps start out as an automotive pump casting and as such have a pipe plug were the heater "return" nipple goes. If you don't have an engine alarm system, you should have a spare pipe plug in the intake or thermostat housing for the heater supply nipple. If not, tee one in with one of the senders, preferably the one for the temp gauge.

Thank you for the different trail to go down.

I see a plug in the head(port side CLY#4 area) & the what looks like the block drain starboard side CLY#4area.

Both look promising.

If you put a T in line you wouldn't get the flow that a direct line would give.

My hot water heater is teed off of the intake manifold with the temp gauge sender and they both work great. The heater feeds straight through and the sender is on the side, but I have the engine alarm in case there's a flow problem to the gauge sender.

The 035-1525 looks line a universal kit, but I don't see how the return would hook up to your engine.
The (26.33) looks just like a GLM kit that is only listed for "V" engines. It's most likely for a larger hose size.
Both GLM Marine and Sierra Marine list a water pump for your engine with the extra hose nipple. I managed to find an automotive repair manual for a car using the same engine. They had the heater supply hooked up to the thermostat housing, but any port in the cylinder head that connects to the water jacket will do. I cant remember what's on your engine.
By the way. I'm running a chev, but a 454 V8.

Re: Car water pump aq131d

Making a heater for your boat? All I can offer is my own experience, it was with an AQ125. I was also interested in using an automotive pump because it was $35 not because I wanted a heater. The casting WAS different on mine, the AQ model pump had a socket for a tube that ran into the heat exchanger, whilst the automotive unit had a neck cast into that area. There was also the heater port, which was simply a hole in the backside of the pump that did not match up to anything on my engine.
You know what I wound up doing? I pressed out the innards of the automotive unit and "rebuilt" my AQ casting. Don't know how this relates to AQ131 Vs. B230 or whatever the auto equivalent was but thought Id throw it in.
